My son Trent will be 9 years old tomorrow.
He is so excited. He told me that he has been waiting for this day for a whole year!
Here's a little story about his birth....
In September 1996, I retired to become a stay at home mom. I started a new job I could do from home. I gave up a very decent salary, 401K, profit sharing and the most wonderful health benefits package to be at home with my two children.
Four months later, I was pregnant. (Much to my surprise!) I really questioned God about this twist... for a second ...
but I was soon excited!
We sure had been through a lot of change in a short time....
God was determined to teach me to trust Him with the details. Once again, I was expecting a boy in October. My third in a row. And this one was also due on Clint's birthday (Oct 26th).
Things settled down once the fetal echos and level 2 ultrasounds were completed. We were checking for heart defects, but also for Downs Syndrome. My testing had indicated a good chance for DS. "Looks like another healthy boy," they told me. What a relief!
So....we waited....and waited....and waited. October came and October went!
I remember walking and walking that last week of October. It wasn't easy. I had gained a whopping 70 pounds! (Can I blame him for my weight now, even though I've had two more babies since then?!?!?!) I was so ready for delivery!
November 1st came and went. Finally, as my blood pressure began rising, I was scheduled for an induction on November 5th.
Induction began and we waited....and waited. We waited some more.
Trent was born 49 hours after induction began. At almost 9 pounds, he looked huge! (He is the biggest of all 6 of my babies.)
Trent is the only grandchild my Dad saw at birth. (Well, he did leave the room when the pushing began!) Trent was "his" baby. He passed away when Trent was only 20 months old...
Trent loves turtles and lizards. He is an artist. He loves McDonald's....a lot! He is patient and thoughtful. He's a good friend. He's shy (This was Trent from the ages 2-5:
), but he is definitely not a pushover.
He's my Trent!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRENT!!
